How Ayurveda Works

To use this system you must know your unique personal (birth) constitution (known as “Prakruti”). Your Prakruti is considered in every aspect of Ayurvedic treatment, the aim being to return your body to its own state of natural balance (birth constitution).Once you understand your Prakruti, it’s simple to work out which foods, medicines, activities, and environments are good for you, and which will cause imbalance.

Each person is diagnosed and treated uniquely

and treated as the unique individual they are, no two people will be treated in the exact same way.

The aim

To return the body to its naturally balanced and healthy state which allows it to heal itself, function correctly, and prevent disease or illness.

Therefore, the system of Ayurveda is useful for prevention of disease or illness in well people, and for effective treatment of disease or illness in unwell people.

Pulse diagnosis is vital

Without pulse diagnosis, there is no way of finding your Prakruti accurately, no internet quiz can do this for you, you need a skilled practitioner who is properly trained in the fine art of pulse diagnosis.

I'll explain your body type in detail

The aim is to help you understand and appreciate your own strengths and weaknesses (physical and personality), as well as your tendency to certain illnesses and ailments and how to moderate those.

If you’ve come for a 12-Organ Pulse check

I’ll examine your pulse to find the condition and function of your 12 major organs. Then I’ll explain which organs are showing signs of strength or weakness, and what kinds of ailments you can expect in your future if no further action is taken.

I’ll offer simple lifestyle and dietary changes

The aim is to help you understand and appreciate your own strengths and weaknesses (physical and personality), as well as your tendency to certain illnesses and ailments and how to moderate those.

Working with the seasons

I take into consideration changeable factors such as season, living/home environment and work. When these factors change, it’s advisable to come for a follow up consultation so you can be advised of small tweaks to your current diet and routine in order to maintain balance.

I recommend my clients come for a spring/summer consultation and an autumn/winter consultation so I can advise you which changes need to be made to suit the different seasons.This helps your body to stay in balance during those seasons, rather than creating imbalances which could result in ailments forming.

Prakruti is decided by which doshas are dominant in your body at conception.

Baby with Severe Eczema: Other Tests Failed

My youngest child (born 2018) developed rather severe eczema on his face at just 1 month- it was heavy, red, itchy scaly eczema. We tried all kinds of things, creams etc etc., and also went to different doctors and specialists.
My son was already about 4 months when I finally was able to get an allergy test which told us that my son was allergic to peanuts and dairy. We dropped the dairy right away but his eczema was not completely gone. I was not convinced that the solution was just giving my son antihistamine syrup everyday for 3 months, using antihistamine creams and not eating dairy and peanuts.
Luckily, we had booked a beautiful healing ayurvedic massage for my sister with Yolande and found out about the hair testing for allergies that Yolande does. We went ahead and did the hair test and found out everything my baby was allergic and or sensitive to. It was a big diet change for me too as I was determined to keep breastfeeding-- but we made the change and for the first time since he was born my son's eczema just disappeared.
My son is almost 3 now. He is no longer sensitive to so many foods (as Yolande advised we avoided all the foods he was sensitive and allergic to then after about 6 months, gradually introduced/tested what foods worked etc.) -- now we're down to him just not being able to eat any dairy or nuts. He's well aware about "foods that make me itchy."
So yes, thank you Yolande- I have recommended your hair test to many people and would recommend anyone who has a baby or child with eczema to do the test. It works! Yolande did for my son when he was about 4-5 months old was really what helped.

I've been thinking of writing to you about my son's status quo. Then your email came. My son is getting far better than it was a year ago. And I should say the allergy seems to have gone except for some minor symptoms every now and then.

Adult with Severe Full Body Urticaria & Welts: Doctors Couldn’t Help

I developed idiopathic urticaria [severe full body itchy welts and rash] last year in January. I was living on about 6 doses of antihistamines a day and at least twice a week was taking prednisone because the welts were so intense and itchy. I did not have a full night’s sleep for about 2 months. We tried everything from even changing the carpets as we thought that might be the cause. Well, it wasn’t.
Fortunately, I contacted Yolande, who advised me to get my hair tested. That was the best decision I made. The test revealed I was reacting to most foods, spices, herbs and salicylates. Within a week of stopping all these foods, I no longer had any urticaria. I have gradually introduced these foods back into my diet and can have most of it now without reacting. However, occasionally I still might react, but the reaction is very minimal compared to the initial response.
Without Yolande’s input into my health care, I probably would still be dealing with this problem. The hair test was solution what I needed.
